Charles Ronald Gill
Charles Ronald "Ron" Gill, 89, of Schuylkill Haven was welcomed into the arms of his Savior and Lord on Saturday, August 15th, at the Lutheran Home at Topton. He has been reunited with his beloved wife, Mary Barbara Gill, who passed away in September 2008.
Ron was born on May 7, 1931 in Baltimore, MD to the late Marion (Gore) and Charles Gill. He was a graduate of Calvert Hall High School and Johns Hopkins School of Business. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, Ron was co-owner/operator of Feeser Contracting & Supply Co. and Swatara Homes. He was a long time member of the former St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and a current member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven. He served as a member of the Church Council and the Cemetery Committee. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League and the Anthracite Amateur Radio Association. Ron was also an aviation enthusiast. He had his private pilot’s license, and was a member and volunteer at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum. Ron was a devoted husband and father. He and his wife Bsrbie spent many happy hours together gardening and traveling. He was never more content than when he was surrounded by his family.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters Jean and Janet.
Ron is survived by three daughters, Laurie, wife of Barry Bedford, of Schuylkill Haven, Julie, wife of LeRoy Coleman, of Schuylkill Haven and Marny, wife of Joe Donnelly, of Ocala, FL.
He is also survived by grandchildren Rachel Kehrer, wife of Jordan, Justin Bedford husband of Katie, Kevin Coleman, Meredith Coleman, Dr. Brynn Donnelly wife of Dr. Mike O'Laughlin, and Lauren Donnelly. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Arya Kehrer, Cameron Bedford, and Ian Kehrer.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 22nd at Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Schuylkill Haven, with Rev. David Rowe officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the Church. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Schuylkill Haven.
