Edward J. Hornacek, 90, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday at Orwigsburg Center.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, Jan. 31, 1926, he was a son of the late Samuel and Laura Schilling Hornacek.
He was the widower of Marion L. Knapp Hornacek, who died in 2002.
In addition to his parents and wife, Edward was also preceded in death by a son, James Hornacek, and brother, Robert Hornacek.
He attended Schuylkill Haven schools and was last employed by Craftex Mills, Auburn, as a mechanic.
Edward was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven.
He was a life member of Liberty Fire Company and Rainbow Hose Company, both of Schuylkill Haven. He also belonged to the Schuylkill County Firemen's Association and Six County Firemen's Association.
Edward is survived by a daughter, Sally Arndt and husband, Guy, Schuylkill Haven; five grandchildren, Jenalyn Marshall, Jeff Hornacek, Jay Hornacek, Justin Arndt and Laura Burkholder; 11 great-grandchildren, Demetri, Logan, Austin, Andrew, Teegan, Lilah, Olivia, Austin, Evelyn, Caden and Chase.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Mickey McDemus officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday. Interment will follow the service at Jerusalem Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edward's memory may be made to Liberty Fire Company, 223 W. Columbia St., P.O. Box 557, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
