Erwin O. Beck

Erwin O. Beck , 90, of Ridge Road, Orwigsburg, passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2022.

Born on November 9, 1931 in Freiburg, Germany, he was the son of the late Ida (Handschuh) Beck and Josef Beck.

Erwin was the loving husband of Erna (Karle) Beck, with whom he just shared 65 years of marriage on December 29, 2021.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church Schuylkill Haven.

He was Owner and President of BGW Energy. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned companies in industrial and coal commerce industries. He retired from Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company as VP of Sales.

Erwin was preceded in death by his sister Giesela Dehner and brother Helmut Beck.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Sabine J. Fidler and her husband David of Orwigsburg, a son, Derek R. Beck and his wife Bonnie of Pottsville and daughter, Suzanne K. Dubbs and her husband Kenneth of Pine Grove; five beautiful grandchildren, Matthew, Jocelyn, Erik, Gabi and Alex, two great-grandchildren, Caden and Corrie, and two siblings, brother Rolf Beck of Ober Rottweil, Germany and sister, Lilo also of Germany.

Erwin was schooled in Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1956 where he received a degree in Industrial Management from the University of Waterloo. Erwin then moved to the United States in 1974 where he made his permanent residence in Orwigsburg, PA.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
