Frederick A. Gosch, 73, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away peacefully Tuesday at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Womelsdorf, March 24, 1941, he was a son of the late Hans H. and Margaret Zeller Gosch.
Fred was the loving husband of Laurie S. Youtz Gosch, whom he married Sept. 4, 1983.
He was a 1959 graduate of Reading High School, and received a bachelor's degree from Kutztown University in 1963.
He began working for Pflueger Insurance Agency, Schuylkill Haven, in 1971. He acted as president from 1982 until his retirement in 1999.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth S. "Betsy" Gosch.
Fred was a member of First United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven.
He belonged to and served as past president of Schuylkill Haven Rotary Club, as well as Kettle Creek Hunting Club, where he was a member for 50 years.
Fred could liven up a room with his presence. He was fun-loving, quick-witted and could bring humor to any situation. He was very devoted to his family, a loyal friend and a man of great integrity.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Michael Gosch and wife, Melissa, New Ringgold, Douglas Gosch and wife, Heather, Orwigsburg, and Peter Gosch and wife, Sarah, Pittsburgh; a daughter, Patricia Gosch Scott and husband, Seth, Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Lauren, Brook, Alexander and Christian Gosch and Elijah and Luke Scott; and a brother, Bobby Gosh and wife, Billi, Brookfield, Vt.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Dr. Christopher Fisher officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be private at the family's convenience.
At the family's request, memorial donations in Fred's memory may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 420 Saylor St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
