Walter F. Gera

August 6, 1945 — March 28, 2015

Walter F. "Walt" Gera, 69, of Reedsville, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, surrounded by his loving family.

Walt was born in Linz, Austria, on Aug. 6, 1945, a son of the late Andrew and Lucy Constantinople Gera.

Walt graduated from Frackville High School in 1964, and he served in the Army as a communication specialist during Vietnam.

He was employed at ZapatA Industries, Frackville, for 21 years until 1988.

Walt is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Baucum Gera, to whom he was married 45 years; a daughter, Regina M. Rivera, Reedsville; a son,Walter M. Gera, South Carolina; his grandson, Mateo J. Rivera; two sisters, Irene, Kiev, Ukraine, and Mary, Frackville; two brothers, Andy and Dave Gera, Frackville; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Ebling Stabingas Funeral Home, 26 Chestnut St., Cressona, with the Rev. Mark Brooks officiating. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be at 11:30 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family requests memorials in Walt's name be made to John Hopkins University, Heart & Vascular Institute,1800 Orleans St., Baltimore, MD 21287.
